Name: Eleonora Nonezyan
After graduating from the Foreign Languages State University in Armenia, I started working as an English teacher at High School and later at the Foreign Languages State University.
In 1988 I defended my dissertation in Comparative Linguistics and continued teaching at the State Foreign Languages University as a Senior Teacher (Tenure Track Academic Position) and gave lectures on theoretical courses of the English Language. As an English Language Department Deputy Coordinator I had responsibilities for semester schedules design work and the English Language theory courses curricula accomplishment. I participated in scientific conferences and had a series of publications in different magazines and reviews. I took part in the University admission tests compiling and prepared a handbook illustrating present day idiomatic English. On my initiative English poetry contests were held at the Student English club, with the aim of involving more students in the extracurricular activities. I also supervised students’ term papers and was a member of the National Admission Examination Commission and Appeal Board in Armenia.
After coming to the USA, I started working at the Translation Services Agency as a translator. Since 2002 I have been working as an ESL Instructor at CBD College. From 2006 to 2009, I was preparing students for the TOEFL/IELTS tests at Huntington Career College.
I passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) and U.S. Constitution Written Examination (Credential Services). I attended In-Service seminars as well as outside training and professional development workshops of LAUSD and CATESOL.
